KYRENAICA. Kyrene. Circa 550-500 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 21 mm, 15.16 g), Attic standard. Geometric cruciform pattern with arms made from two parallel lines with a Herakles knot at the intersection; in each of the quarters, silphium fruit. Rev. Incuse square divided by a thick vertical line and with irregular surfaces. BMC -. Boston MFA -. Nomos 32 (2024), 508. SNG Copenhagen -. Extremely rare, apparently the second example known. Harshly cleaned and with numerous scratches and some minor horn silver, otherwise, about very fine.
